Madill Takedown Club Wrestlers Give Strong Performances at the 2025 Adidas Nationals

Bryer Votaw (1st grade) and Jake Bohannon (11th grade) of the Madill Takedown Club came back from the 2025 Adidas Nationals with some major bonafides and hardware on the weekend of April 11-13.

This has been a big year for young Votaw, who at seven years old and in only his second year of Folkstyle wrestling has racked up a medalcountthatwouldmake wrestlerstwoandthreetimes his age jealous.

Votaw took 2nd overall in the Kindergarten-1st Grade 72 lb division making All-American, winning a silver medal and a designer singlet for being a finalist.

Overall, he finished his 2024/2025 Folkstyle season witha54-11record,including winningOKWAandOKUSA Novice State, being the OKUSA Open State Runner-Up, taking 3rd in the OKWA OpenStateTournament, and placing 4th at USJOC.

The 45 days of Freestyle training he received from the Madill Takedown Club before Adidas Nationals was evident to all. Votaw’s takedown defense allowed him to score multiple points from big throws in his quarterfinal andsemi-finalmatcheswhen his opponents attempted offensive shots.

Head Freestyle & Greco Coach Peter Hammer of the Club is thrilled with Votaw’s work ethic and sense of proprioception. “Bryer is an incredibly hard worker and driven by his love of the sport. Thislevelofachievementand focusinsuchayoungwrestler is truly amazing to see.”

At the same tournament, Jake Bohannon of the Club (representing Ada High School) placed 5th and made All-American in the 11th grade - 143 lb category. Likewise, the Club’s coaches all feel extremely fortunate to have both Votaw and Bohannon as wrestlers. Coach Hammer believes that “Jake is a fierce competitor and phenomenal training partner to all of the wrestlers in the room. He’s quick, agile, and a force to be reckoned with. Super proud of everything he has achieved this year. The future is looking bright for both Votaw and Bohannon after their strong finishes.”
