Competing in one of the toughest conference meets in the state, the Madill Wildcat high school boys placed second and the girls fifth in the Lake Country Conference Cross Country Meet on Saturday.
Kingston’s girls also posted a fourth place showing in the event that was held at Madill City Lake.
Leading the charge for the Wildcat boys runners was James Valadez, who clocked in at 17 minutes, 11.62 seconds over the 5K course to take fifth place individually. JoseCamposalsocrackedthe Top 10, finishing eight with a time of 17:21.49.
Also for the Madill boys, Triston Barnes took 12th in 17:42.22, Alex Orta claimed 17th with a mark of 18:05.73 and Ryder Douglas checked in 24th by posting a time of 18:51.20. Gael Gallegos added a 28th place time of 19:15.91, Blane Hawthorne was 40th by crossing the stripe in 20:02.69 while Jose Menchaca ended 46th with a time of 21:04.43, Azeel Rivera took 58th in 22:47.66, Vincent Acquaviva added a 60th place mark of 23:00.23. Additional Wildcat runners included Xavier Quintanilla, 65th at 23:25.11; Juan Padronrodriguez, 67th in 23:34.30; Dayton Gimenez, 69th with a time of 24:38.02; Yandel Lozoya, 77th in 29:16.21; and Omar Camacho, 78th at 29:46.02.
Kingston boys had a trio of competitors in the field with CashWilsoncheckingin45th at 21:00.12, Kingston Williams was 75th in 27:13.42 and Ayden Esparza added a 76th place time of 28:03.43.
On the girls’ side of things, Yadira Barbosa from Madill was the top local placer, capturing runner-up honors by crossing the finish line in 12:28.24 on the 3200-meter course.
Adding to the Madill total was Katelyn Acquaviva in 28th at 14:55.49 and Kaia Henry just behind in 29th with a time of 15:00.42. Yvette Ariciaga added a 36th place finish of 15:55.31, Klarivel Aldava checked in 42nd in 16:20.29 and Hadon Stuckeywas45that17:00.29.
For Kingston, the top girls’ runner was Avery Ludrick, clocking in with a 13:27.65 to place 11th.
The Lady Redskins also had Daisy Avery in 14th at 13:33.40, Cassie McAllister taking 16th in 13:55.26, Rylee Davis posting a 25th place effort of 14:29.82 and Ava Reno in 37th with a 15:59.44. Maysie Clark checked in 41st in 16:19.21 and Aleyah Clark took 43rd at 16:32.30.
Each school will be competing in regional competition next week at a location to be announced Friday.
