Madill grapplers blast Davis in dual action

The Madill wrestling teams ran a dominant gauntlet across the board while rolling past Davis in every division of their team dual last week.

In the varsity boys’ competition, the Wildcats ran away with a 71-12 triumph. They added a 24-12 win for the girls and blasted the Wolves by a 66-6 count in junior high action.

Now a perfect 2-0 in dual competition, Madill will wrap up the pre-Christmas portion of the schedule at Comanche this week.

Madillnotchedaplethoraof forfeit wins in the varsity boys event as Blaze Greenwood, Braxton Gimenez, Coltyn McQueary,DaytonGimenez, Brayden Valles, Aroddy Camacho, Bryce Culp and Dylan Casteneda all were credited with victories without wrestling as they racked up 48 points.

At 132 pounds, Xavier Quintanilla posted a 3:47 fall win over Dominic Lindberry of Davis and Jackson Harper needed only 44 seconds to pin his opponent, Nate McKee, at 144 pounds.

Tyner Roberts scored a 3:13 pinfall win at 165 and Brylon Gibson posted a 24-5 technical fall triumph at 175, Xavier Diaz dropped a 2:56 fall at 190 pounds and Alex Sarabia was downed in 47 seconds at heavyweight.

All four victories for the Lady Wildcats came via pin fall with Samantha Ortiz, Hannah Pruitt, Kaydence Bourland and Madison Barrow all coming out victorious. Arianna Sanchez added an exhibition triumph in junior high girls’ action.

Madill’s junior high ran away for the verdict, also picking up a bevy of forfeits fromAdrianColescott,Layne Dorer, Steven Moreno, Jacob Valles and Rodrigo Cruces.

Teo Barrientos was a 2:30 fall winner at 92 pounds and Damien Trejo posted a run of four consecutive pins with a decision in just 21 seconds at 1:19. Ryder Hutton (126), GabeThomas(132)andDane Torres (140) cruised to fall wins as did Dago Gonzalez in the heavyweight division.
