The Madill High School Golf team traveled to Ardmore to play at Lakeview for the Lak Country Conference (LCC). Girls Head Coach Jennifer Rushing said the course was no extremely difficult.

“The course was good, with plenty of challenges but nothing too hard,” Rushing said Abby Zang and Kellanie Lowe both shot 109. “Scores were not bad, some personal bests, said Rushing. Belen Moreno shot 112; Jaelen Williams shot 127; and Samantha Salina shot 130.

Rushing noted that the girls found the weaknesses they would like to improve.

“The girls want to work on chipping, irons and placement of the ball and of course the all want to work on thier drives on the tee box,” said Rushing. “We have a few more day to practice and hopefully get all the kinks out.”

The Madill Boys Golf team took a team of five, and then registered two boys as individual contestents. Boys head coach Adam Potter said the team number depended on th requirements of the tournament.

“The way tournaments work, only five players can be on the team and contribute to ou team score,” Potter said. “When more than five attend, they are entered as individual that can place as an individual but cannot contribute to our team.”

Greg Padgett scored 96, leading the team. Brylan James shot 97. “Some of our boy have made some improvements in our scoring,” said Potter. “I believe a few of them ha their best scores of the year.”

Ian Zang scored 99; Reagan Combs a 113; Colby Lambertsen a 119. The Individua scores were Joshua Johnson shot 110 and Christian Lanning a 132. “A few of us hav struggled the last tournament or two but I’m hoping we are getting that out of our system before we go to Regionals May 3,” said Potter.
