Madill Baseball wins two, loses two

On Monday, April 19, 2021, the Madill baseball team traveled to Pauls Valley to play the Panthers. The Wildcats started the first inning with Steven Sisco popping a fly ball for an out to the shortstop. Cash Coble hit a fly ball out to left field. Case Coble hit a double on a flyball to right field and Ty Rushing hit a fly ball in foul territory to right field and was out. Pauls Valley got on the scoreboard first with one run.

Caden McHatton hit a single a ground ball to start the second inning. Houston Stephenson got a hit. McHatton was called out at home base. Griffin Williams hit a ground ball. Brylee Bruster and Jackson Robertsboth struck out. The Wildcats held the Panthers to three consecutive outs.

To start the third inning, Sisco singled. Cash Coble struck out and Case Coble grounded a hit, allowing Sisco to score. Rushing struck out. Paul’s Valley was once again held to consecutive outs.

McHatton started the fourth inning with a ground hit to the shortstop and was out. Stephenson was also out with a ground hit to second base. Williams grounded an out to the shortstop. The Wildcats once again did not allow the Panthers to get one play in, they held Pauls Valley to three consecutive outs.

The fifth inning started with Bruster getting a walk. Roberts struck out and Sisco hit a single to third base. Cash Coble hit an out to centerfield. Case Coble singled on a fly ball to right field, allowing Bruster to score. Rushing got a walk and McHatton grounded an out to third base. The Wildcats defense was too much for Pauls Valley with consecutive outs once again.

Stephenson walked to start the sixth inning. Williams singled on a bunt to the the. Bruster hit a pop-fly for an out to the pitcher. Roberts was out on a foul tip. Williams grounded an out to first base. Pauls Valley was held to consecutive outs. The seventh inning started with Sisco hitting a fly ball to second base and was out. Cash Coble will single on a ground ball to centerfield. Case Coble hit a double on a fly ball to centerfield. Rushing hit a pop-fly for an out to first base. McHatton hit a ground ball allowing both Coble brothers to score. Stephenson hit a double on a fly ball to centerfield allowing McHatton to score. Williams grounded an out to the pitcher. Paul’s Valley still was unable to get past the Wildcats to get a hit on the board. The Wildcats won 5 to 1.

Head Coach Frank Thompson said his team played well.

“We played pretty good this past week,” Thompson noted. “We got some timely hit late in the game to win.”

On Tuesday, April 20, the Wildcats hosted the Pauls Valley Panthers. The first inning started with Pauls Valley up to bat. Rushing pitched getting two strikeouts, and one hit for an out. Sisco hit an out to centerfield. Cash Coble hit a single on a flyball to right field and Case Coble singled on a flyball to left field. Rushing got a walk. McHatton hit a pop-fly for an out in foul territory to third base. Stephenson grounded an out to third base.

Rushing pitched to start the second inning with a walk. A fly ball hit for an out to centerfield, and three consecutive strikeouts. Williams popped a fly ball for an out to third base. Bruster hit a single on a ground ball to the short stop. River Shaw grounded an out to first base and Sisco walked. Cash Coble hit an out to centerfield.

The third inning started with Rushing allowing two hit to third base for two outs, and one strike out. Case Coble hit a pop-fly for an out to first base. Rushing hit a double on a fly ball to left field. McHatton grounded an out to third base and Stephenson was out at first base.

To start the fourth inning, Rushing allowed a single on a fly ball, a single ground ball to the shortstop, and allowed Pauls Valley one run. Williams grounded an out to third base and Bruster struck out. Shaw struck out.

Pauls Valley started the fifth inning with consecutive strikeouts by Rushing. Sisco hit a pop-fly for an out to third base. Cash Coble hit a single on a ground ball to second base. Case Coble grounded an out to second base and Rushing hit a pop-fly for an out to second base.

The sixth inning started with Paul’s Valley scoring two runs. Stevenson hit a pop-fly for and out to first base. Williams grounded an out to the shortstop and Brewster hit a pop-fly for in and out to the shortstop.

Madill‘s defense holds Pauls Valley to consecutive outs to start the seventh inning. Arturo Gomez struck out. Sisco hit a single on a ground ball to right field. Cash Coble hit an out to second base and Case Coble hit a double on a fly ball to left field, allowing Sisco to score. Rushing hit an out to right field. The Wildcats lost 1 to 3. Thompson said they metaphorically dropped the ball a few times. “We couldn’t seem to get a hit when people were in scoring position.”

On Thursday, April 22, the Wildcats hosted the Tishomingo Indians. The Indians started the first inning with Case Coble pitching, allowing a strikeout, a hit, and two more strikeouts. Sisco singled on a ground ball to third base. Cash Coble hit a pop-fly for an out to the shortstop. Case Coble also hit a pop-fly for an out to the shortstop. McHatton hit a fly ball for an out to right field.

Madill‘s defense holds the Indians to consecutive strikeouts to start the second inning. Stephenson grounded an out to third base. Bruster hit an out to centerfield and Gomez grounded an out to second base.

With Case still on the pitcher’s mound, the Indians strike out, get a walk, and two consecutive strikeouts. Shaw hit a pop-fly for an out to the pitcher. Roberts hit an out to leftfield. Sisco hit a pop-fly for an out in foul territory.

To start the fourth inning Tishomingo got a walk, a single hit and scored two runs, followed by three strikeouts. Cash Coble hit a double on a flyball to right field. Case Coble singled on a fly ball to left field, allowing Cash Coble to score. McHatton hit an out to centerfield and Stephenson was hit by the pitcher. Bruster grounded an out to third base with Case Coble scoring. Gomez walked and Shaw was hit by the pitcher. Roberts hit an out to right field.

The Indians started the fifth inning with a single hit, a strike out, a single hit with an out at first base, and a strike out. Sisco and Cash Coble both hit an out to centerfield. Case Coble grounded an out to third base.

The Wildcats held the Indians to two strikeouts, a single hit, and another strike out to start the sixth inning. McHatton walked and Stephenson hit a single on a bunt to the pitcher. Bruster got a hit and was out at first base but McHatton was able to score. Gomez singled on a ground ball to the shortstop with Stephenson scoring. Shaw singled on a bunt to the pitcher. Roberts grounded an out to third base with Gomez scoring. Sisco hit a single on a bunt to the pitcher and allowed Shaw to score. Cash Coble hit an out to right field.

Tishomingo tried to get more runs in the beginning of the seventh inning but failed. Madill won 7 to 2.

On Thursday, April 22, Madill hosted the Kingston Redskins. The first inning started with Sisco pitching allowing a single hit, a hit by the pitcher, another single hit, and then three runs. Then, an out at the shortstop, another run, a double hit, two more runs, a single hit, a walk, one out four runs, a single hit, and the third out. Sisco was first up to bat and struck out. Cash Coble also struck out a nd Case Coble singled to centerfield. McHatton singled on a ground ball to third base. Stephenson hit a single to the shortstop and allowed Cash Coble to score. Bruster struck out.

With Stephenson pitching the second inning, Kingston got a walk, hit an out to centerfield, singled on a fly ball to centerfield, a strike out, one run, and grounded an out to second base. Gomez, Shaw, Roberts all three struck out.

To start the third inning, the Redskins got a walk, a fly ball out to leftfield, a fly ball out to centerfield, and grounded and out to second base. Sisco struck out. Cash Coble grounded an out to first base and Case Coble hit an out to centerfield.

For the third inning, Kingston grounded two outs to third base, singled on fly ball, and grounded an out to third base. McHatton struck out. Stephenson grounded an out to second base. Bruster grounded a hit to second base. Gomez grounded a hit to the shortstop and Stephenson was out advancing to third. Shaw struck out.

The Wildcats lost 1 to 11. Thompson said even though there were losses, he could not be prouder of the team.

“Thursday, we manufactured runs to beat Tishomingo, had six errors in the first inning against Kingston and gave up too many runs to overcome,” Thompson said. “You can’t give a good ball club runs and have a chance to win.

The Seniors are fine young men and have been good leaders for us. They will be missed.”
