Madill Baseball closes out season with a win

On April 26, 2021, the Madill Wildcats hosted the Tishomingo Indians. The Indians started the first inning off with Cash Coble pitching. The Indians hit a pop fly out, a strikeout, and another pop fly out. With the Wildcats up to bat, Steven Sisco singled on a ground ball to short stop. Cash Coble grounded an out to second base. Case Coble grounded an out to second base but Sisco is able to score, and Ty rushing struck out.

Tishomingo came up to bat in the second inning and hit a fly ball hit, grounded an out, another fly ball hit, and Cash Coble struck out two Indian players. Caden McHatton, Houston Stephenson, and Brylee Bruster all struck out. Tishomingo started the third quarter with hitting an out, singling on a ground ball, a ground ball hit with an out advancing to second, and a pop fly in foul territory. Arturo Gomez grounded an out to second base. River Shaw hit a pop fly out to centerfield and Steven Sisco popped an out to the shortstop.

The fourth inning started with the Indians getting a single on a fly ball, an out at first, a walk, an out, and a strike out by pitcher Ty Rushing and Cash Coble walked. Case Coble popped an out to centerfield. Rushing doubled on a fly ball to right field allowing Cash Coble to score. Then, McHatton grounded an out to the pitcher.

The Indians got a strike out by Rushing to start the fifth inning, grounded an out to the pitcher, and another struck out. Stephenson popped an out to second base and Bruster struck out. Gomez popped an out to third base.

The sixth inning started with the Indians grounding and out to second base with Sisco pitching, a walk, grounding an out to third, singling on a ground ball and hitting a run, Then, grounding an out to the shortstop. Shaw struck out. Sisco popped an out to centerfield and Cash Coble grounded an out to third base.

The seventh inning sealed the deal for a Wildcat win when Tishomingo struck out, grounded an out to the pitcher, doubled on a fly ball, and grounded an out to second base. The Wildcats won 2 to 1.

On April 29, the Wildcats traveled to Elk City to take on the Elks in bidistricts. The Wildcats got the first inning started with Sisco striking out. Cash Coble grounded an out to the shortstop and Case Coble popped an out to centerfield. The Elks struck out and hit two consecutive outs to the shortstop.

Rushing started the second inning with a ground out to the shortstop and McHatton and Bruster both struck out. The Elks singled on a fly ball, got a walk from Cash Coble, popped an infield fly ball, singled on a ground ball with one run, got an out at third base and a fly ball out to centerfield. Gomez and Shaw both struck out. Sisco hit a ground ball hit. Cash Coble struck out to start the third inning. The Elks got an out to the pitcher. tripled on a fly ball, a walk, a run, a fly ball out to left field, and a ground ball out to second base.

The fourth inning started with Case Coble hitting a fly ball out to right field. Rushing hit a walk. McHatton grounded a hit into short stop with Rushing getting out while advancing to second base. Stephenson grounded an out to second. With Cash Coble pitching, the Elks singled on a fly ball to centerfield, popped an out to centerfield, singled on a ground ball, hit a ground ball out to pitcher, and popped a fly ball out to the shortstop. The fifth inning started when Bruster singled on a fly ball. Gomez got out at first and Shaw struck out. Sisco popped an out to left field. Elk City hit a fly ball, got a walk by Cash Coble, grounded an out to the pitcher, popped an out to the shortstop and runner got out while advancing to third.

The sixth inning started with Cash Coble grounding an out to second base. Then, Case Coble grounded an out to third base. Rushing singled to the shortstop. McHatton popped an out to second base. Stephenson grounded an out to second.

The Wildcats tried to make a comeback in the seventh inning. Bruster got a walk. Andrew Ray is out at first an d Shaw is hit by the pitch. Sisco popped an out to leftfield. Cash Coble struck out. The Wildcats lose 0 to 2.

The second game against Elk City also brought defeat to the Wildcats. The first inning started with elk city getting four runs. Sisco and Cash Coble struck out. Case Coble grounded an out to the shortstop.

The second inning brought two more runs by the Elks. Rushing walked and McHatton singled on a fly ball to centerfield. Stephenson popped an out to centerfield. Bruster struck out but Rushing stole home and is able to score. Ray struck out. McHatton stole a base and was able to score.

Elk City was able to add four more runs to start the third inning. Shaw struck out. Sisco grounded an out to second base and Cash Coble walked. Case Coble grounded an out to second.

The Wildcats held the Elks scoreless in the fourth inning. Rushing walked, but McHatton, Stephenson, and Bruster all struck out.

The Elks would add nine more runs to start the fifth inning. Ray struck out. Shaw grounded an out to first base. Sisco struck out. The Wildcats lost 19 to 2, ending the Wildcats season. Head Coach Frank Thompson said he could not have been prouder of his team.

“We came a long way this season,” . Thompson said. “The young men gave it all they had. I felt like we improved as the season went along. The seniors had good leadership and will be missed. I am very proud of the young men. They were fun to coach and work with. They worked very hard all year.”

Thompson also gave thanks for everybody who helped during the season.

“I would also like to thank our two managers - Brooklyn Nixon and Jastiny Hale. I appreciate them very much. Brooklyn has been with us for 4 years and really helped us - keeping books and the support she gave the baseball team,” Thompson said.

Thompson then dropped a bombshell of an announcement.

“I am retiring. I want to thank the administration for their support of the baseball program,” he said. “I want to thank Mr. Case and his support. Madill Schools is a good place to work. I especially want to thank Mr. Bink Stafford for all he did to help me and the baseball program. I will miss the young men I coached and worked with.”
