Lady Redskins start season off with a bang

Lady Redskins sweep 1st three games

Monday, August 12, the Frederick Lady Bombers traveled to Kingston to battle the Lady Redskins for a double-header season opener. The Lady Redskins took the win in both games, beating the Lady Bombers 13-0 and 10-0.

Kingstonjumpedouttothe lead in the bottom of the first after sophomore Ava Bain doubled, scoring two runs. Senior Kenadea Elkins and freshman Audrey Hughes helped the Lady Redskins extend their lead in the second inning. With junior Amberly Hallum in the circle, striking out four and walking none, and the Lady Redskins piled up14hits.TheLadyBombers had no answer for the Lady Redskins.

Game two against the Frederick Lady Bombers played out much the same, ending in a 10-0 victory for Kingston. Sophomore Khloe Hall started in the circle for the Lady Redskins in game two and gained the win. Elkins tallied up three hits with freshman Kate Ratzlaff collecting two hits. Kingston looked solid in the field, committing zero errors in either game.

Tuesday, August 13, the Lady Redskins traveled to Marietta and came home with a 14-1 win over the Lady Indians. Ratzlaff and Elkins opened the scoring in the top of the first with freshmen Emma Bridgeman, Kenley Hallum and sophomore Alyssa Langford adding to the lead in the top of the third. The Marietta Lady Indians were no match for the Kingston Lady Redskins.

After playing 20 games over the summer, head coach Aaron Minor and assistant coach Emi O’Steen said they are excited for the upcoming season.CoachMinorreflected on the first three games.

“It’s good to be 3-0 in district play. They’re a young group and seem to be getting better every outing. It’s a fun group to watch, and the camaraderie is something special.”
