Lady Redskins cruise to Ada Track Meet crown

Riding the wave of 10 either first or second place individual performances, the Kingston Lady Redskins trackandfieldteamranaway to the Ada Meet championship last week.

The Lady Redskins tallied 143.3 points to easily outdistance second place Class 5A Noble, which was second with 114 points in the 17team field.

Kingston set the tone in the relay events where the Lady Redskins notched a pair of first place showings as well as two seconds in the four relay competitions.

The 800-meter relay unit of Kenley Hallum, Coby Davis, Olivia McAlister and Ava Russell took top honors in one minutes, 50.76 seconds with the 1,600-meter tandem of Kate Ratzlaff, Davis, Kenley Hallum and Olivia McAlister also claimed gold in 4:17.17. The school’s “B” unit of Vivian Cobbs, Avery Ludrick, Rylee Daivs and Taylor Backenstoesalsoplacedthird at 4:36.38.

In the sprint relay, the Lady Redskins’ grouping of Alyssa Langford, Kate Ratzlaff, Coby Davis and Ava Russell were second place in 51.09 seconds as well as ending second in the 3,200 relay with the squad of Daisy Avery, Addie Cole, Ludrick and Hallum in at 10:45.13.

Gold medal individuals included Daisy Avery in the 3,200 meters at 12:26.89, Kate Ratzlaff in the 300 hurdles at 47.93 seconds and Alyssa Langford with a leap of 11 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault.

Individual runner-up efforts by the Lady Redskins included Ratlaff’s 17.82 time in the 100 hurdles, Russell’s 27.23 in the 200 meters and Davis with a leap of 15 feet, 7 inches in the long jump Ella Weaver chipped in a third place heave of 31 feet, 5 inches in the shot put and Backenstoes claimed fourth in the pole vault at 7 feet, 6 inches. Cole added a fourth in the 800 meters in 2:34.38 while Russell also placed fourth in the 100 meters in 13.47 seconds.

Cassidy Walker rounded out the Kingston placers, checking in sixth in the high jump at 4 feet, 8 inches.
