Last week, the Lady Redskins traveled to Healdton and Chickasha to participate in a festival, further battle testing the girls. Kingston took down the Healdton Lady Bulldogs7-3,theTurnerLady Falcons 5-1 and the Chickasha fighting chicks 10-6 with only one loss to the Yukon Lady Millers.
One error got Healdton on the board first with three in the first half, but the Lady Redskins took it from there and continued to claim victory over Healdton, thanks to sophomores Kate Ratzlaff, Audrey Hughes and juniors Ava Bain, Dextry Bowerman and Khloe Hall each collecting multiple hits and driving in multiple runs.
Turner had no answer for Kingston due to walking three when Bain drew a walk to score one run in the beginning of the game. The Lady Redskins had the early lead 4-0 with Bain and freshman Maddi Hammond as the one-two punch in the lineup, gaining the win 5-1. Ratzlaff solidified the 10-6 win against the Fighting Chicks with three hits.
Both Ratzlaff and Hall doubled followed by a single by Bain to earn quick points on the board. Junior Dextry Bowerman earned the win against Chickasha with senior Amberly Hallum appearing in relief.
Monday, September 22, Kingston battled the Valliant Lady Dawgs, at home, for the second place spot in district play. The Lady Redskins didn’t just win but made a statement with an 11-2 win over Valliant.
Sophomore Gracie Bridgman threw gems and dominated the circle, ringing up 10 strikeouts. The Kingston bats stayed hot with Hughes, Hammond, Kenley Hallum, and Bowerman driving in multiple runs.
