Friday night, January 15, 2021, the Lady Redskins played host to the Lady Longhorns from Lone Grove in a Lake Country Conference matchup. Coach Chad Rumer had the chance to play a lot of players in this one. Although not a pretty win due to turnovers, the girls coasted home with a 57 to 43 victory.

First quarter saw the Lady Redskins with a change in the lineup. Ryan Herndon was out due to the KHS cheerleaders, of which she is a member, needing to be quarantined. Kiara Price was able to make her first start because of the changeup.

Avri Weeks had one of her best starts ever. The Lady Long Horns did not have the size to contend with her inside play. It was not all about size though, as she was able to take the ball and beat the defense down court for layups. She was good for four field goals and was 2 of 2 from the line for a ten-point quarter.

Emi O’Steen had a good night shooting the ball. She had two nice three-pointers in the quarter. Kamrey Bohannon was 4 of 4 from the line. This was just a start for her from the line. Raegan Davis had a field goal. It should be noted that Coach Rumer had used ten players in the quarter. The lead at the end of the first quarter was 20 to 9.

In the second, Weeks took a break but still managed 2 of 2 from the line. O’Steen had another three-pointer. Davis had her second field goal by banking in a shot at the buzzer. Rumer was still substituting at will, and the lead going into the locker room was 29 to 22.

After the break, Weeks got the third quarter off to a good start. She had three more field goals and Bohannon added a field goal and was 2 of 2 from the line, making her 6 of 6 at that current point in the game. The Lady Redskins were holding a ten-point lead, 39 to 29, after three quarters.

In the fourth, Weeks came out firing, five field goals and 2 of 4 from the line. Bohannon again had a field goal and was 2 of 2 from the line making for a perfect 8 of 8 for the game. O’Steen had another field goal.

The second string took over at the 4:27 mark and the Lady Redskins cruised in for a 57 to 43 victory. Lanie French, Emma Waite, Jayda Foster, Emily Bellettini, Kaya Weibner and Brit O’Steen all had minutes in the game.

Box score: Weeks with 30 points including 6 of 10 from the line. Next was Bohannon with 12 points, she was 8 for 8 from the charity stripe, O’Steen had 11 points, nine of which were from three-point range. Davis had two field goals.

As a team from the free throw line, 14 of 18 for 78%. Only Weeks and Bohannon had attempts.
