Kingston takes Checotah powerlifting honors

Kingston boys ran away with the championship while the Lady Redskins posted a third place finish in the Checotah Powerlifting Invitational last week.

The Redskins scored medalist points in all but one weight class to post a whopping 205-point total in the competition, well in front of secondplaceKetchum(which finished with 148) to claim the small school crown.

Kingston’s girls meanwhile scored key points in the lower divisions to wrap up only behind Idabel and Fort Gibson in the girls standings.

On the way to the team championship, the Kingston boys tallied a pair of individual crowns at 181 and 198 pounds as standout seniors Reid Patterson and Parks Ratzlaff claimed titles respectively.

Patterson racked up a three-lift total 1,120 pounds in taking the 181 title as he posted 405 on squat, 275 in bench and 440 on deadlift. Teammate James Trout added a fourth with 1,085 pounds in the same category.

Ratzlaff was stellar at 198 with a combination total of 1,295 pounds while notching 470 on squat, 350 on bench and 475 in the deadlift. Fellow Redskin Ty Jones added a sixth with 1,050 pounds.

Jaksyn Martin powered his way to a runner-up showing in the 132-pound division while totaling 910 pounds (335 squat, 215 bench, 360 deadlift). Cash Wilson was just behind that in fourth place with 850 pounds.

Five more Kingston lifters were third in their weight classes, including Kyler Edwards, Vinny Robbins, Kelly Gray, Blane Henry and Landon Burgess.

At 123 pounds, Edwards had three lifts for a 665 total (215 squat, 155 bench, 295 deadlift) with Vinny Robbins totaling 900 pounds (350 squat, 205 bench, 345 deadlift) in the 157 category. Kelly Gray checked in at 990 pounds even (370 squat, 230 bench, 390 deadlift) for honors at 168 pounds.

Blane Henry had a sensational performance at 275 pounds with a three-lift mark of a whopping 1,315 pounds (515 squat, 300 bench, 500 deadlift). Landon Burgess rounded out the Kingston boys medalists at heavyweight by rolling up 1,200 pounds (505 squat, 260 bench, 435 deadlift).

For the girls, Coby Davis and Carli Lilley each contributed weight class titles. Davis took honors at 132 by posting 690 total pounds (265 squat, 135 bench, 290 deadlift with teammate Hannah Uhlenhake third with 590 and Rae-Ann Best sixth at 560.

Carli Lilley was the 155-pound titlist with three liftscombiningfor710pounds (275 squat, 145 bench, 290 deadlift).

Bailey Reagan took third in the 123 category as she tallied 590 pounds and Daisy Avery was fourth at 113 with a three-lift mark of 490.
