Kingston softball off to a winning start

Impressive performances and thrilling comebacks highlight an eventful first week for the team

TheKingstonLadyRedskins kickedofftheirsoftballseason with an impressive display of skill and teamwork, ending their first week of play with a strong record of 3-1. The team showcased their determination, securing victories against Marietta, Wilson, and Sulphur while only facing a single loss to Plainview on August 7. The ladies continued on to defeat Marietta 11-0 on August 8, Wilson 2-1 on August 10, and Sulphur 6-5 on August 11.

Acombination of great pitching from Sydney Navarrett and big hits from Jayda Foster,Ayli Minor,Alyssa Langford, including a homerun from Khloe Hall that scored two runs, helped the team ease past Marietta. Navarrett gave up zero hits and zero runs over five innings.

Great pitching from Wilson and Kingston made scoring difficult for both teams. Hall pitched all seven innings allowing only one run. Hall, Navarrett, AvaBain,andKenadea Elkins all collected hits to help drive in the two runs allowing the Redskins to escape with the win.

The most exciting game of the week was on Friday with Sulphur. After trailing by as many as five runs during the game, the Redskins tied the game in the bottom of the seventh. Langford, Elkins, Hall, and Minor all collected hits to help the team get their third win of the week. Amberly Hallum earned the win for Kingston with seven strike-outs.

The Redskins will take on Davis and Lone Grove, and will compete in the Tishomingo Tournament next.
