Community, businesses and charity

In a powerful example of community cooperation, a group of local families and businesses came together to turn a single act of generosity into hundreds of meals for neighbors in need. What began with the donation of one cow ultimately resulted in 444 pounds of packaged ground beef destined for families served by Bread of Life.

The effort started when Troy and Merrily Shelby donated a cow specifically for charitable use, setting the tone for what would become a multi-step collaboration. From there, Covy Carr and Courtney Combs of Whiskey Creek Processing stepped in, donating their time and expertise to process the animal and grind the beef into convenient one-pound packages, making it easier for families to store, cook and stretch the meat into multiple meals.

Covering the cost of processing was Patti Sparlin of Sparlin Realty, whose financial contribution ensured that every pound of beef could go directly to those in need rather than being reduced by expenses.

Once packaged and ready, the meat will be distributed by Ray and Phillis Morris and David Thomas with Bread of Life, who will oversee getting the beef into the hands of individuals and families facing food insecurity. By the time the work was finished, the combined effort produced 444 pounds of ground beef, significant supply that will make an immediate and tangible difference for local households.

Bread of Life is a community-based outreach ministry dedicated to helping meet basic needs while offering hope and dignity to those it serves. Through food distribution, emergency assistance and partnerships with local donors and volunteers, Bread of Life works to ensure that no one in the community is left without support during difficult times.

Its mission is rooted in compassion, relying heavily on grassroots generosity and cooperative efforts like this one. Those involved said the project is a reminder that when individuals, businesses andnonprofitsworktogether, even a single donation can multiply into something that feeds an entire community.
