Kingston Defeats Madill in LCC Championship

Kingston’s Jacson Beal held a total of six RBIs on the weekend in the Lake Country Conference Tournament to lead the Redskins to a Conference Championship.

Beal hit .500 in the tournament to get Kingston to the Championship game against Madill where the Redskins were victorious, 6-1.

The Wildcats earned their spot in the Championship by beating Davis and Lone Grove.

Madill’s Raygan Dodd had just as an impressive weekend as Beal, going 6-for-12 from the plate, while adding four RBIs.

Thursday

Madill faced Davis in the first round of the tournament where they fell behind early. Going into the third inning the Wildcats trailed. Davis 2-1.

Madill tied the game at 2-2 in the third on a throwing error by Davis which allowed Devon Chapa to score_

In the fourthinning, Dodd crushed a three-run homerun to give Madill the lead and the momentum. The Wildcats held a 6-2 lead for the remainder of the game, taking the round one victory.

Dodd had three RBIs for Madill, while Paxton Arterberry went 2-for-2 at the plate with two singles_

Chapa took the win on the mound for the Wildcats throwing seven innings with six strikeouts and allowing just three hits_

For Kingston, the first round against Dickson was somewhat simple as an eight-run secondinni ng set up the run-rule victory.

The Redskins earned a 12-2 win over the Comets to sail into the next round.

Beal had four RBIs in the game, with the help of a three-run home run.

Paden Hayes and Trevor Peoples went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Redskins.

Jarren Williams took the win on the mound for Kingston throwing four innings with - five strikeouts and allowing only three hits.

Friday

Madill faced off against Lone Grove on Friday where the Wildcats held a 1-0 lead going into the fourth inning

The Longhorns scored one run in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 1-1. Madill, however, wouldn’t lay down, scoring a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth frame to take back a 2-1 lead.

The Wildcats scored one ronin the fifth inning and one in the sixth to hang on to a4-1 win over Lone Grove.

Corbin Larason scored two runs for Madill, as well as Chapa and Arterberry.

Arterberry went 2-for-3 at the plate for Madill with two singles while Taber Bagley and Dodd went 2-for-4.

A five-run first inning helped Kmgston take a 5-1 lead over Sulphur going into the second.

Hayes, Beal, Hunter Goodson, Cody Flesher and Peoples scored in the inning for the Redskins.

Peoples scored again for Kingston in the third inning on a single by Trent Roberts to give the Redskins a 6-1 lead after three.

Kingston scored two more runs in the sixth inning from Flesher and Peoples to give the Redskins a 3-1 lead over Sulphur_ The Bulldogs fought back in the seventh inning to score three runs, but Kingston held on to earn the 9-4 win.

Peoples had three RBIs in the game, with a double and a single.

Taking the win on the mound was Beal, who pitched seven innings He allowed five hits and earned eight strikeouts.

Saturday

Both Madill and Kingston fought through two games to earn the right to play for the Like Country Conference Championship on Saturday.

The game started with Larason getting hit by the pitch to get on base for Madill. A single by Dodd put Larason on third, but Kingston earned three outs leaving two baserunners for the Wildcats.

In the bottom of the first inning, Kingston’s Beal scored on a defensive error after getting on base by way of a walk.

Madill’s defense held the Redskins to just one run in the first inning to go into the second down, 1-0.

A defensive error by Kingston allowed Arterberry to get on base. Arterberry then moved to third on a single by Traven Bagley, but a relay throw by Kingston from Flesher, Hayes and Jake Idleman got Arterberry out at home plate.

Kingston remained in the lead 1-0 after two innings.

Madill’s Taber Bagley was hit by a pitch allowing him to take first base in the top ofthe third inning A single by Dodd sent Bagley to third and a fielder’s choice by Tanner Barnes scored Bagley.

The Wildcats tied the game with Kingston 1-1.

In the bottom of the third, Kingston answered, scoring Beal on hits by Goodson and Williams. The Redskins regained a 2-1 lead over Madill to enter the fourth inning

The Wildcats left two baseruniaers stranded in the top of the fourth inning, and Kingston capitalized in the bottom of the fourth to score Roberts and Conner Blister. They scored on hits from Beal, Hayes and Jacoby Adkins.

The Redskins took a 4-1 lead over Madill to end the fourth inning

Kingston’s Peoples and Goodson scored in the fifth and sixth innings to push the Redskins further ahead of the Wildcats.

Three outs in the top ofthe seventh sealed the 6-1 victory for Kingston, crowning them the LCC champions.

Hayes, Beal, Williams and Brister each had an RBI for Kingston in the game. Peoples took the win from the mound for the Redskins throwing seven innings. He allowed four hits and earned three strikeouts.

Dodd went 2-for-3 at the plate for Madill with two singles, while Barnes had the Wildcats only RBI_

Larason, Jake McHatton and Taber Bagley pitched for Madill. They combined for two strikeouts and allowed seven hits.

What’s next

Madill will be playing Ardmore at home today (Thursday) before playing Tishomingo at home on Monday. The Wildcats will be traveling to Lone Grove for district play next week.

Kingston will be playing a threeway at home with Davis and Sulphur today (Thursday) before traveling to Valiant for a three-way tomorrow (Friday 1. The Redskins will be playing Tishomingo at home for district play next week.
