The Kingston Redskin baseballteamopenedtheseason last week with a twinbill sweep of Tishomingo before falling to Class A small school powerhouse Wright City.
Kingston rolled to dominant 9-0 and 10-1 wins in the district outings facing Tishomingo but couldn’t get much going while dropping the 14-1 verdict to the Lumberjax later in the week.
Coach Daren Henson’s squad was slated to participate in the Broken Bow Festival this week during SpringBreakaheadofleague outings with Hugo beginning on Monday.
In the Tishomingo season opener, Kingston wasted little time in getting the bats going, scoring one run in each of the first two innings before tallying two in the fourth for a 4-0 edge.
Brady Greene and Hayden Seeney each notched a pair of hits in the early uprising with Ethan Mowles also adding a RBI single.
That’s how it remained until the sixth inning when the Redskins cashed in three more hits for three runs with Mowles, Jaksyn Martin and Lander Burkhalter all coming through. Two more tallies in the seventh put it away for Kingston, sparked by a Greene double.
It was also Seeney and Greene on the mound that combinedforasix-hitshutout as they struck out a whopping 15 batters and walked only two.
Three hits each from Greene and Mowles topped the offensive charge as Seeney contributed a pair and Brock Rumer, Burkhalter and Martin each had one.
A9-runfirstinningingame two sealed the deal early for Kingston as they cruised to the victory.
Reid Patterson and Blane Henry tossed in doubles to score runs while Ewan Weaver, Greene and Rumer addedsinglestogoalongwith six walks.
The Redskins totaled nine hits in that contest, three of which came off the bat of Rumer, who drove in a pair. Martin contributed two hits as Weaver, Henry, Patterson and Greene chipped in one apiece.
Henry and Burkhalter combined for the pitching win, allowing one run on just four hits. Henry also fanned six batters.
Thegoingwasmuchtougher against Wright City as the Redskins were outhit 14-5. Rumer, Reid Patterson, Greene, Seeney and Mowles had one hit apiece.
