TheLadyRedskinsmetthe Comanche Lady Indians on the court on February 7. The current Lady Indians are not nearly as competitive as they have been in recent years. They have been the Lady Redskins’ biggest rival in the Lake Country Conference and class 3A playoffs these past few years. This game, however, was different as the Lady Redskins won 45 to 31.
It was a slow start for the Lady Redskins as they fell behind by five points early in the game. Kamry Bohannon responded with a three pointer and Olivia Quapaw had a bucket to even things upatfiveall. Then,Bohannon had a big block and a bucket. Emily Bellettini got busy and had three buckets. Quapaw added another field goal and the Lady Redskins were in control at 13 to 9 going to the second quarter.
Thesecondwasprettyeven until the 4:50 mark when Quapaw found her stroke. She hit a three. Thirty three seconds later, she hit another. With 1:47 left to play in the half, she hit her third three pointer of the quarter. After a long outlet pass, she hit a layup. Bellettini again had a bucket. The Lady Redskins were up 28 to 19.
By now, the Lady Indians had seen all of Quapaw they wanted. She was not however finished. She got started again with a long three pointer. With 5:38 to play in the quarter, Bellettini had a beautiful reverse layup underneath. Quapaw had a steal and another layup. Bohannon had a bucket and Bellettini had another. She was 1 of 2 from the line. The Lady Redskins were now up by 17, 40 to 23.
Inthefourth,Quapawwas goodforanotherthreepointer before she said good night. Lanie French had a bucket and the Lady Redskins eased to a 45 to 31 win.
Box score: Quapaw led the team with 23 points and five three pointers. Next up was Bellettini who had 12 points. Bohannon had seven and French with two.
Lady Redskins v Lady Comets
Coach Chad Rumer and the Lady Redskins took on the Lady Comets of Dickson attheKMAConFebruary10. They were able to build a lead in the first, increase it in the second, survive a sloppy third and close things out in the fourth. The Lady Redskins won 62 to 46.
In the first quarter, Emily Bellettini got off to a good start with two field goals and she was 2 of 2 from the free throwline.KamryBohannon had four, Olivia Quapaw and Ethel Stewart each had two. The Lady Redskins were leading 16 to 10 at the break.
The second quarter was fast paced with Bellettini building on what she started in the first. She again had two field goals and was 2 of 2 from the line. Quapaw had two buckets. Stewart had a bucket and a free throw for a three-point play. Lanie French had a bucket and Jaci Herndon was 1 of 2 from the line. It was a 20 point advantage for the Lady Redskins, 32 to 12.
Bellettini kept things going with a bucket and a free throw and French was good for a three pointer and a twopoint field goal. Stewart was again perfect from the free throw line, she had two. The score was 43 to 36 going to the fourth quarter.
Herndonhadagoodfourth quarter with a three, a two and she was 2 of 2 from the line. Stewart again was good for a inside basket. After being somewhat quiet in the second and third quarters, Bohannon hits a three and was 2 of 2 from the stripe. French had a bucket and a free throw. Bellettini had another field goal to her credit. The final score, 62 to 46. The Lady Redskins won another Lake Country Conference game.
Box Score: Bellettini with an excellent game had 18 points including 6 of 6 from the line. Next was Bohannon with11,Frenchhad10,Stewart with nine, Herndon with eight and Quapaw with six. From the line, the team, 15 of 18 for 83%. With scoring that balanced they are hard to beat.
