While Madill’s high school grapplers came up a bit short, the Wildcat junior high cashed in dominance the lower weight classes to notch a dual win at Little Axe last week.

The Wildcats dropped a narrow 42-39 verdict in the high school dual to see their season record level at 2-2 after the junior high scored a 54-30 victory.

In high school action, Madill notched fall victories by Colton Sandefur, Christian Robledo and Tyner Roberts while Jackson Harper and Aaron Rodriguez picked up forfeit wins.

Sandefur took out Little Axe’s Caden Abbit in the second period at 126 pounds, Robledo scored his fall win against David Hensley in the opening stanza at 150 and Roberts added his fall triumph at 165 over Coby Thompson.

Triston Barnes posted a technical fall decision in the second period over Dalton Cuevas in the 113-pound division with Jayden Mc-Cain picking up a highscoring 17-9 decision win at 157 pounds as part of four straight Madill wins between 150 and 175 pounds.

Every Little Axe individual win came via pinfall or forfeit for the final margin.

The Wildcats put together the impressive run toward the junior high win, picking up wins in seven of the eight lowest weight divisions.

Canyon Phillips opened things at 80 pounds with a first period fall triumph against Konner Casey. Damien Trejo and Saul Martinez followed with forfeit victories at 86 and 92 pounds.

Yadel Sanchez also added a forfeit decision at 106 ahead of three consecutive first period fall wins from Coltyn McQueary, Brayden Valles and Dayton Gimenez. McQueary stopped Eli Bread at 112 pounds, Valles dispatched Nic Hamson at 119 andGimeneztoppledBradley Cernocky in the 126-pound division.

Following a Little Axe win at 132 pounds, Yael Corona got Madill back on track at 140withanovertimedecision against Austin Robinette.

The Wildcats’ final match victory came at 195 pounds with Enrique Martinez pinning Liam Wells in the opening period.
