Indians handle Wildcats

The Madill Wildcats boys basketball team dropped its second straight road game Dec. 13 as it finished on the wrong end of a 66-45 score line against the Tishomingo Indians.

The hosts’ seemed to be one step ahead of their guests on offense. The homecourt advantage started as Tishomingo took a 14-9 lead at the end of the first quarter behind some scoring by junior guard Jackson Lowley (five points) and sophomore forward Nick Northcutt (four points).

The Indians added to their advantage with a 12-7 second quarter. Lowley accounted for eight of his team’s 12 second quarter points.

The hosts held a 26-16 advantage at halftime.

In the first half, Madill’s offense was led by sophomore guard Ezekiel Fuentes who (ten points) and junior guard Miguel Duran (four points).

Lawley continued to power the hosts with a pair of threepointers and another basket in the third quarter. The game was all but out of reach for Madill after the end of three quarters as Tishomingo held a 42-23 lead.

Tishomingo would only outscore Madill by two points (26-24) in the game’s final quarter, but at that point the damage was done.

With the loss, Madill fell to 4-2 on the year. Fuentes would go on to lead Madill with 12 points. Meanwhile, Duran finished with nine points. Forward LoLo Ortega scored six points for the Wildcats. Two Madill players had five points: Aron Vann and Wyatt Gray. A pair of players (Javier Gomez and Asa Robertson) had three points apiece for the Wildcats. Then, senior guard Austin Maxey rounded out the scoring for the visitors with two points.

Lawley led all scorers with 27 points. Tishomingo had one other player score in double digits: Tyson, who had ten points, but whose first name was not available at press time.

A pair of players had eight points apiece for the hosts. They were senior center Matt Justus and sophomore forward Nick Northcutt. Also scoring for the Indians were Cothran with six points, sophomore forward Brayden Linder with four points, Pritchard with two points and Colby Gray with one point.
