Gilberto Grimaldo

Gilberto Grimaldo is preparing to graduate from Madill High School, and he reflected on a lifetime of memories and experiences that have shaped him into the person he is today. A dedicated senior, Grimaldo has spent his entire academic journey at Madill, where he has emerged as a standout athlete and a committed student.

Grimaldo’s passion for sports is evident in his participation on the football, basketball and track and field teams. In addition to his athletic pursuits, he is also a proud member of the National Honor Society, highlighting his dedication to both academics and athletics. With aspirations of playing college football, Grimaldo said he also has a keen interest in pursuing a degree in civil engineering or physical therapy, demonstrating his commitment to both his athletic and academic futures.

Reflecting on his time at Madill, Grimaldo said he cherishes the moments spent at the lunch tables with friends, sharing laughter and jokes.

'Those moments are what I will miss the most,' he shared.

When it comes to football, he said one memory stands out.

'My first varsity start my sophomore year when we beat Kingston. That was an unforgettable experience.'

Gilberto expressed deep gratitude to his coaches for their unwavering support and guidance.

'Thank you for always pushing me to do better and helping me become a better athlete and leader,' he said.

He attributed much of his success to his parents, Yessica Sanchez and Jose Grimaldo, and his sister, Jaslyn Grimaldo, who have been his steadfast supporters throughout his journey.

'I wouldn’t be where I am without y’all,' he expressed with heartfelt appreciation.

Inspiration plays a signifi cant role in Grimaldo’s life. He cited his father as his greatest influence, teaching him the values of hard work and perseverance. In sports, he said he looks up to NFL star J.J. Watt, whose incredibleworkethicandathleticism serve as a model for Grimaldo’s own aspirations.
