Devin Tipton is a senior at Kingston High School. He started attending Kingston in the first grade. Tipton plays football and runs track at KHS. He was a state runner-up in the 300m hurdles that helped lead Kingston to the state championship for track in 2021.

Tipton has big plans for his football season coming up. After missing the playoffs last season, he hopes to help lead his team back in his final season. Tipton has never experienced a state playoff game and wants to change that.

Tipton will play the running back position on offense and as a safety on defense. He will split carries with Damon Rowe, and be a full-time starter at safety.

Along with his team goals, Tipton also has some personal goals for himself. Tipton wants to have over 2000 all-purpose yards on offense. All-purpose yards not only include rushing yards but include receiving and returning yards as well. He also wants to record ten interceptions while playing the safety position.

Tipton is excited about the 2023 track season. While he couldn’t compete in his first year due to COVID-19, he performed well in his second year.

He placed 7th in the 110m hurdles and 2nd in the 300m hurdles at the state track meet. Tipton also ran on the 4 by 100m relay and 4 by 200m relay at that same meet. His team placed eighth on the 4 by 100m relay and placed third on the 4 by 200m relay.

Tipton showed promise for his junior year, but it would be cut short. After running in two track meets, he would tear his hamstring muscle.

Tipton has a huge goal for himself in his last track season. His goal is to win first place in the 110m and 300m hurdles at the state track meet. He is confident in himself to achieve this goal as well. “ I know I can win it, and I don’t think there is many hurdlers that can beat me.” Tipton said.

After high school, Tipton plans on playing college football. He is the most interested in the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) at this time. The sports medicine field is the route Tipton looks to take for his career in life. He would use his degree to pursue being a physical therapist. “This is a dream I’ve had since I was a little kid, so I might as well go and achieve it.” Tipton finished.

Tipton provided insight into his favorite coach since he began competing in athletics. “My favorite coach was Coach Martin.” Tipton stated. “ We only had him for a year, but I cherish him for being a part of my life and I still talk to him to this day.” Tipton finished. Martin coached Tipton in football.
