Madill traveled to Tishomingo on Tuesday, January 11 to take on the Tishomingo Indians. The Lady Wildcats got the action started and had no problems handling the Lady Indians, winning 60 to 39. The Lady Wildcats led 22 to 0 at the end of the first quarter and stretched their lead 37 to 11 at halftime. Head Coach Shawn Runyan said he was pleased about the way the girls played.

“We played good and shot the ball well,” he said.

Madill stretched the lead to 54 to 26 at the end of the third quarter and sealed the win with ease. Senior Jayden Weiberg led the Lady Wildcats with 23 points; senior Braylee Schneider followed with eight points; sophomore Korlee Cunningham-Martin had seven points; and senior Lydia Landgraf had six points.

The Wildcats took the court next and led the Indians 11 to 2 at the end of the first pressure on the Wildcats and decreased the lead by one point at halftime, 17 to 16. Head Coach Brett Weiberg said stagnation was a big reason the opposition was able to reduce the gap.

“Offensively, we became stagnate against their zone,” Weiberg said. "Once we finally got the ball in the high post a little bit, we were able to break the zone down and make a few more plays.”

The third quarter pushed the Wildcats to keep the lead. Weiberg said the team’s transitions and defense was great.

“We got a few plays going in transition and that helped us break the ice in the second half,” said Weiberg. “Defensively, I thought our kids played really hard and did some good things.”

The Wildcats took off in the fourth quarter to take the win 35 to 22. Senior Ezekiel Fuentes led the Wildcats with 17 points. Senior Javier Gomez had eight points. Senior Nick Northcutt and junior RJ Morris had five points each. Weiberg said the entire team gave their all, even the ones on the bench.

“Nick Northcutt rebounded almost every miss,” said Weiberg. “It’s always good to win on the road and it’s always good to win a conference game. I thought the MVP of this game could have been our bench energy. The kids on the bench are doing an amazing job and I hope they understand how important they are to our team.”

Madill will travel to Atoka to play in the Atoka tournament on January 20 through January 22.
