Tulsa, Okla. — Bodie Franklin of the Madill Takedown Club is only 10 years old and he’s already creating a family wrestling legacy. At the 2025 USAOKW Freestyle/Greco State Championship in the Arvest Convention Center on May 24, 2025, Franklin snatched up two gold medals and a State Champ title in both Freestyle and Greco. If the name Franklin sounds familiar, his older brother Lucas matchedthatfeatandwalked away with the coveted Triple Crown.
The younger Franklin destroyed his opponents in both disciplines, as he wrestled in the 10U 93-lb division. Although Franklin is too young to qualify for the 2025 USMC Junior Nationals, commonly referred to as “Fargo” held in July, he shows exceptional promise alongside his brother Lucas for becoming major players in youth wrestling at both the state and national levels. The younger Franklin’s time is on the horizon.
For now, Franklin’s current achievement as a double gold medalist and state champ is being applauded as another record breaker for the Madill Takedown Club and the Southern Oklahoma region.
Franklin won all but one of his matches with 1st-period pins. In his final Freestyle match for the gold, he won by medical forfeit.
