Weldon
MaryLouiseStevensWeldon,97,ofMadill,Okla.passed away Friday, February 28, 2025. She was born February 13, 1928, in Lorimor, Iowa, to the late Albert Kitchell and Delores Caroline (Fredrickson) Stevens. After graduating from Mt. Ayr High School, she moved to Des Moines with her older sister.
Mary later traveled to Madill, Okla., where her brother was involved in construction of Lake Texoma. There, she met and married Billy Gene Weldon, Sr. Following their union on March 25, 1948, they raised four children and many, many tomatoes, side by side, in and around Madill.
Mary worked primarily as a homemaker before joining the staff of the Madill Pants Factory. She retired in 1990 after 20 years of work and forming lifetime friendships with her coworkers. She devoted herself to active service in the congregation of the Madill Church of the Nazarene.
A woman of simple pleasures and gentle strength, she will be remembered for her deep commitment to her faith, family, church, and friends. Mary excelled at rocking babies and crafting delicious dishes that could never be replicated and had a lilting laugh that was pure joy. In her later years, she enjoyed adventures with her friends, including many trips to Branson, and an unforgettable trip to the Holy lands.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Sidney Keith Stevens; daughter, Kathy Kay Weldon Truett; sons Steven Carl Weldon and Billy Gene Weldon, Jr.; grandson-in-law, Roy Fruen, Jr.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Tim Sweeney of Madill, Okla.; Son-in-law, Rondall “Dink” Truett of Meeker, Okla.; sister: Jean Stevens Sweeney of Sioux City, Iowa; brothers, Paul Stevens and wife Helen of Alamogordo, NM, Robert “Bob” Stevens and wife Patti of Bethany, Okla.; grandchildren, Jeff Weldon and wife Laura of Stillwater, Okla., Shelly Truett Fruen of Roff, Okla., Traci Weldon Ballard and husband Matthew of Claremore, Okla., Sandy Truett Roberts and husband Philip of Frisco, Texas, Kassie Sweeney, Erin Sweeney Holstein and husband Jon Franklin of Oklahoma City, Okla., Tessa Truett Walker and husband Jonathan of Meeker, Okla., Tyla Truett Price and husband Keith of Poteau, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Jordan Weldon, Brooke Weldon Garcia and husband Paul, Kizer, Keaton, and Matthijs Ballard, William, Henry, and Oliver Roberts, Hadley Walker, Jon Franklin, Adelaide Louise, and Mary Frances Holstein, and Sawyer and Sutton Price.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, Okla. Dick Sowders and Ronnie Bartee will officiate the service. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome. com. Casket Bearers will be Jeff Weldon, Matthew Ballard, Philip Roberts, Keith Price, Jon Franklin Holstein and Jonathan Walker.
