Marjorie E. Parker

Marjorie E. Parker 89, of Madill, Okla. passed away on April 1, 2020 at her home in Madill. She was born on January 7, 1931 in Lebanon, Okla. to the late William Clarence Redden and Minnie McKinzie Redden.

Marjorie was raised in Lebanon and attended the Old Bethel School which was located then on what is known as Cox Road. As a young woman, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she went to work at Bell Helecopter and attended the Rosen Hights Baptist Church. Marjorie met her late husband there, Alden Parker, who sang special music there.

They were married on December 10, 1955. Alden had 2 younger children, Janet and Larry Parker, who were 11 and 12 years older than Shari, Marjorie’s only child. Alden preceded her in death on October 28, 1970. After Alden’s death, Margie put herself back through school to gain a Corporate Secretary Degree and went to work for the Collum Oil Company in Tyler, Texas.

Margie later moved back to Madill when her daughter started college at Murray State in Tishomingo, Okla. Margie worked at Banc First upon moving back and was a member of the B&PW. Later, she went to work for the Clint Williams Peanut Company, where she worked until retirement.

She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church here in Madill. She loved to travel and see new places, she enjoyed the charter bus trips from the First Baptist Church, Grapevine, Texas, she took with her brother and sister inlaws, as well as traveling to their homes and visiting with their families and friends.

Marjorie especially enjoyed her grandsons coming to her home when they were younger and as of late with their families and visiting with her great grandsons. They brought her much joy.

Marjorie was a devout Christian woman and held herself as well as others around her to a higher standard. She taught her daughter and grandchildren about God and always encouraged them to pray and read their bible. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by daughter, Shari DeAnn Pruitt and husband Marland, grandchildren: M. W. Pruitt III and wife Megan, Lane Alden Pruitt, Sharidn “Quinn” Pruitt, great grandchildren: Easton W. Pruitt, Everett Pruitt, nieces and nephews: Dan Orr and Wife Jamie, Carolyn Franks, and sister, Hester Westfall.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister; Ethelene Orr Underhill Woods and one brother; William “Lloyd” Redden.

Private Family Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2020 at the Lebanon Cemetery, Labanon, Okla., with interment following. Services were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
