Lona Floyce Buck

Lona Floyce Buck, 89, of Marshall County, passed away peacefully at home. Floyce was born on Sunday, April 14, 1935, in Mount Pleasant, Texas to the late, Roy Aldine and Ozella Harper Willmon. She had a humble upbring on a dairy farm, working from an early age.

Billy Benson and Floyce were married on June 12, 1954, at the Blodgett Church of Christ. Billy worked in the oil refinery industry -starting their family in Odessa, Texas area before moving to Madill with their two children in 1968. Floyce was a homemaker taking part time jobs in Madill as a 1970 US census taker and working at Wards and Trammels and Sharps. She started full-time work with the Tag Agency then with the County Assessor’s Office from which she retired as the County Assessor in 1993.

Floyce became a widow at the age of 41, when Billy Benson died due to an industrial accident on August 30, 1976. She found love again and was married to Cecil Buck on September 2, 1978. She frequently said she was fortunate to have two good husbands. After retirement, she devoted herself to being a working ranch hand and active grandmother.

Her first love was always God and His word. Floyce was a member of the Madill Church of Christ, where she made and nurtured many wonderful loving friendships. She was kind, sweet, forgiving and loving to everyone she encountered; truly, providing an example of Christ’s love to all who encountered her.

Floyce was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Aldine and Ozella Willmon; husbands, Billy Benson and Cecil Buck; sister, Edith Sutterfield and husband Gene Sutterfield; niece, Carla Willmon Jones.

Pleasant, Texas; grandson, Jeremy Rinner and wife Emily Rinner and their children John, Audrey, Kate, Isaac, Vincent, Vera, Bridget and Marcella Rinner of Lindsay, Texas; granddaughter, Maggie Perez and husband Jake of, Richardson, Texas; granddaughter, Alissa Benson and fiancé Sam Cooper of San Francisco, Calif.; relatives from Bill Benson’s side of the family; relatives from Cecil Buck’s side of the family.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Service was Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. at 10:00 a.m. Todd McRay officiated the service. Song leader was Dillon Proctor.

Interment will be Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Blodgett Cemetery in Blodgett, Texas. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
