Jackie Wayne Pruitt, Sr.

Jackie Wayne Pruitt Sr., 87 and known to many as Jack, passed away peacefully at his home in Kingston, Okla., on Friday, April 18, 2025.

Jack was born on February 2, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to the late J.B. Pruitt Sr. and Mamie Riddles Pruitt. He was raised in Madill, Okla., where he attended school and graduated in 1957.

Shortly after, Jack began his lifelong career in the oil field. Starting out as a roughneck, he worked his way up to become a drilling superintendent. His work took him across Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming and New Mexico, and along the way, he built countless lifelong friendships. If Jack wasn’t talking oil field, he was talking OU football—his beloved Sooners held a special place in his heart. Boomer Sooner!

On April 29, 1963, Jack married the love of his life, Carrol Dean Cole, in Farmington, NM. Together, they shared a life rooted in faith, family and friendship. A devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church in Kingston, Jack found joy in the simple things—bird watching, fishing, yard work, welding, working on his tractor and chatting with friends on the phone.

Jack’s legacy is one of hard work, loyalty and deep love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Clara Jo; brother, J. B. Pruitt, Jr.; and favorite brother in-law, Carlos Cole.
