Bobby Joe Kaney, 78, of Kingston, Okla., passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Kingston.
Born on April 10, 1947, in Madill, Okla., Bobby was the son of the late Holmes KaneyandKatherineEllenSelfKaney.He was raised in Kingston and proudly graduated from Kingston High School in 1967.
Bobby dedicated his life to serving his community. He began his career at Uniroyal and the Lake Texoma Lodge before joining the City of Kingston Water Department. After 10 years of committed service, he went on to work for the City of Madill’s Water Department, where he spent over 30 years until his retirement in 2018.
Bobby had a deep love for the outdoors and simple joys. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on his favorite football teams, treasure hunting, and collecting historical artifacts—especially items related to Bonnie and Clyde. A proud member of the Chickasaw Nation, he took great pride in his heritage and his community.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic and curious spirit.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rhetta Richardson and niece, Hillary Chyann Jordan Bobby is survived by his partner, Sara Steinmetz of Kingston, Okla.; children and grandchildren, Heather Standfield and husband David and son Logan, Victor Seeley and son Oliver, Joe Steinmetz, TJ Richardson of Hendrix, Okla.; great nieces, Kattie Shackelford and husband Anthony of Achille, Okla., Dakota Hunsinger and husband Austin of Morrison, Okla.; great great nieces, Vivian Shackelford of Achille, Okla., Stella Shackelford of Achille, Okla., Emberly Hunsinger of Morrison, Okla., Laramie Hunsinger of Morrison, Okla., Caydence Burnett, Durant, Okla., Kayten Burnett of Durant, Okla.; great great nephew, Ryan Davis of Achille, Okla.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and family hours from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Kingston Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Kingston Funeral Home, with Joe Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Lark Cemetery in Enos, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome. com.
