Billy “Bill” Frank Scruggs age 73, of Mannsville, Okla. passed from this earth on February 5, 2025, with his best friend and brother, Don Scruggs at his side. Bill was born on September 12, 1951, in Tishomingo, Okla. to the late Franklin Virdell “F.V.”Scruggs and Anita Irene Henderson Scruggs. Bill was raised in Mannsville where he lived all his life. He graduated from Dickson High School in 1969 and went to work for the Daily Ardmoreite as a pressman, retiring after 48 years.
Bill joined the United States Army Reserves and served for six years. He was reunited with his forever Valentine, Sheila Renee Roberts Scruggs, whom he had married on February 14, 1980, at the home of his parents in Mannsville. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2010. Bill also worked as a farmer - his entire life and a custom hay bailer.
He was a man of many honorable traits. Bill could fix anything and was the first to help anyone in need. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mannsville, and he enjoyed farming, fishing and working. Bill’s greatest love was being with his family, spending time with the grandchildren and traveling.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his bride of 30 years; brother, Bob Scruggs; sister, Virgina Gaither and great granddaughter, Jersey Renee Edwards.
Bill is survived by his children, Anita Cline of Ardmore, Okla., Jamie Whittington and husband Jesse of Gainesville, Texas,ReneeJamesandhusbandKentofMannsville, Okla., Dea Gray and husband Cooter of Davis, Okla., Cory Bill of Mannsville, Okla., Leah Mays and husband Johnny of Mannsville, Okla.; grandchildren, Travis Simmons, Summer Winegeart and husband William, CJ Edwards, Madison Scruggs and fiancé Austin Brownlee, Michael and Marc James, Corbyn and Berkley Gray, Jayce, Jarred and Jessica Mays, and Trenton Scruggs; great grandchildren, Lillian, Hazel, Violet and Shawn Winegeart, Jayce, Jettlynn, Jenson, Jodie and Jasmine Edwards; brother, Don Scruggs of Mannsville, Okla.; siste, Shirley George and husband Johnny of Mannsville, Okla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was hel Friday, February 7, 2025, at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.a from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and a family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral service was Saturday, February 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Madill, Okla. Les Scheer officiated the service. Interment was at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery in Madill, Okla. Services were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
Casket Bearers were J. T. Woulfe, Caleb Hall, Wes Scruggs, John McClemore, Jeffery Clements, Robert Clements and Travis Simmons.
