Wilson
Barbara Sharon Oliver Wilson, 77 of Yukon, Okla., passed away on November 4, 2024, after a long and fierce battle with Parkinsons Disease. Barbara was born on September 12, 1947, to Shelton and Anna Oliver in Madill, Okla. Her young years were spent on the farm and then later the family lived and ran the Sooner Motel in Atoka. After graduating from Tushka High School, she and her mother loaded up the Dodge and moved to Oklahoma City to begin life.
Barbara married the love of her life, Raphael (Ray) Wilson, in 1969. Together, they had two daughters, Jessica and Morgan. Barbara worked as a supervisor for Little Jim’s Convenience stores for 21 years. She did everything from running the register to inventory and even dealing with multiple robberies. She was on call 24/7 and took pride in her contributions to the success of the stores. In later years, Barbara joined her husband to run the family business and together they enjoyed investing in real estate on the side.
Barbara was a dedicated wife, mother and daughter. Barbara worked to give her girls everything – music and acting lessons, parties, dresses, trips – you name it. She passed down a strong work ethic and lots of motherly wisdom. Her grandchildren held a particularly special place in her heart, and she enjoyed every minute she spent with all five boys. She shared a particularly strong bond with her own mother, often living across the street or next door all their lives.
Her hobbies included a mean game of Scrabble, her favorite music (cue Elvis and Liza followed later by Queen and Sha Na Na), studying the bible and her beloved animals. Every stray was welcome in her house, and that was not limited to dogs and cats. It must be mentioned that she had eccentric taste on a shoestring budget and decorated her house with flare, even including a jukebox and disco ball in the music room.
Barbara was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Chaney and Katie McIntyre; brother, Woody Oliver; daughter, Morgan Graham.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Wilson; grandsons, Aaron Wilson, Lucas and Daniel González, Calvin and Spencer Graham; and many adored cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Memorial services for Barbara will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. J. A. Chaney will officiate the service. A private burial at Woodberry-Forest Cemetery in Madill, Oklahoma will follow. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
