Cyril,Okla.sitsameretwo and a half hours northeast of Madill. On January 10, an incident rocked the little town of 800.
A postal worker saw a five-year-old girl walking alone and called authorities. Upon investigating, officials learned that the little girl’s four-year-old sister, Athena Brownfield, was missing.
Many officials and volunteers began searching for the little girl, fearing she would be harmed by the dangerous elements. Unfortunately, it seems as if the little girl was harmedbytheoneswhowere supposed to care for her.
After the investigation turned dark, the search for the child is now a “recovery operation,” the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations said January 16.
Alysia Adams, the girls’ caregiver, was arrested for Child Neglect. According to her testimony, her husband Ivon Adams murdered the little girl. Alysia said in her affidavit that Ivon murdered her on Christmas Day.
Allegedly, Alysia said that Athena “was not moving and her eyes were barely open”. Ivon Adams “then laid her on the ground and punched her at least three more times in the chest” and the child “never moved after that.”
She also alleges that Ivon left the home with Athena at approximately 1:00 a.m. on December 26. He returned a short time later and said he buried her on the Adams’ former property in Rush Springs, marking the site with “a large broken branch.”
Ivon was arrested in Arkansas and is awaiting extradition back to Oklahoma to face First-Degree Murder and Child Endangerment charges.
Authorities said in a press release on January 17 that they recovered the remains of a child. They could not confirm if the remains belonged to Athena. According to a Facebook post, the remains will be “transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City for positive identification.”
