A Kingston man was arrested for kidnapping and other charges after an altercation. It all began at approximately 1:00 a.m. on September 26 when the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call about a Domestic Abuse situation in the southern part of the county.

The reporting party told deputies that their female neighbor had ran to their residence for help after her husband allegedly beat her. The reporting party called 911 immediately because the victim had visible injuries.

While EMS and deputies were heading to the residence, they learned the suspect Zachary Lawson, a 40-year-old from Kingston, had made vocal threats. Allegedly, he said he would shoot anybody that went to his residence and barricaded himself inside.

Once on scene, EMS and a deputy transported the victim to the Durant hospital. The deputies who remained on scene went to work trying to take control of the situation.

They informed Lawson, via the public announcement speakers on their patrol units, that they had the residence surrounded. After a short time later, Lawson exited the residence and was arrested without further incident.

While some of the deputies were placing Lawson under arrest, others made entry into the residence to secure it. Upon entry to the residence, deputies found the spot where Lawson had set up with firearms after barricading himself in the residence.

A search warrant was obtained, and deputies recovered items that corroborated the event. Deputies also learned that Lawson was a convicted felon, meaning, he should not have been in possession of any firearms.

Officers located a large gun safe in the residence, as well. They attempted to retrieve the entry code from Lawson, but he was not cooperating. Then, the officers requested assistance from the Enos Fire Department.

The Enos Fire Department was successful in opening the gun safe and several more firearms were found. Officers found 17 firearms, even one what was reported stolen from Kansas, and over 7,000 rounds of ammunition.

Lawson was booked into the Marshall County Jail for charges of Domestic Abuse/Assault and Battery with Great Bodily Harm including Strangulation, Threatening to Perform Acts of Violence, Kidnapping, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of a Firearm After the Formal Conviction of a Felony.

An online search found a prior for Possession of CDS, and a charge for Failure to Pay Taxes Owed the State.
