Belen Moreno

Belen Moreno is a senior at Madill High School and has attended Madill public schools since Pre-K. She has played the saxophone in the band since the sixth grade. She also has been a part of the golf team since the seventh grade.

Moreno is the proud daughter of Joseluis Moreno and Claudia Moreno. She has two sisters: Selene Moreno and Neftali Moreno.

Moreno said she is thankful for the support her parents have shown her.

“I’d like to tell my parents thank you for supporting me every step of the way,” said Moreno. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without your love and support. I love you both very much!”

She said her favorite memory from school is when the band earned two back-to-back superior ratings at the Regional Marching contest. She said her band directors have been amazing and she will miss them once she graduates.

“I want to say thank you to my band directors for teaching me everything I needed to know. The past seven years have been unforgettable,” Moreno said. “You have been a constant in my life. I will truly miss each of you!”

She did not want to leave out her golf instructor.

“As far as golf goes, I want to say to Ms. Rushing, although I have not had you for many years, you have been such a wonderful coach,” Moreno added. “Thank you for coaching me and believing in me.”

Moreno said her biggest challenge has been to make time for other things besides band and golf. However, through this, she said she has learned to manage her time between her extracurriculars, academics, job, and hobbies

Her plan after high school is to attend a four-year college to do her basics and study Pre-Med. After finishing her basics, she plans on going to medical school and then plans on pursuing a neurosurgeon degree.

She said her family is the cornerstone of who she is.

“My family has been my biggest inspiration in sports,” Moreno said. “The reason being is because they have encouraged me every step of the way. They taught me to believe in myself and trust God.”
