Coach Taylor Weibner was really looking forward to coaching this year’s team. He also knew it might be his most challenging yet. The transition from “senior” laden to a “young” team takes a lot of patience. These boys are not short on hustle, determination and work. They have seen it and done it. Many on this team can show you championship rings. But that was then and this is now.

Redskins take on the Mount St. Mary Rockets. The first quarter started out hopeful. Brady Brister had his best start in a game to date. He hit for seven. Jesse Rose who continues to impress, had a bucket, Kaden Johnson put up a three and hit it. Jase Hayes had a bucket. Buzzer sounded and the game was tied at 14 all.

Second quarter, the scoring all but dried up. The team could only manage a seven point quarter. Meanwhile, the Rocket had taken off to the tune of a 15 point outburst. Redskin trailed at the half by 8.

In the third, it did dry up. The Redskins could only put up a 2 point field goal by sophomore Braden Matchen. The Rockets did not seem to mind and the quarter ended at 37 to 23.

Fourth quarter was a mirror of the second, a seven point output. Rose had 2, Jase Hayes continued his good free throw shooting. He had two. Sophmore Tucker had a nice three pointer. Final score was 49 to 30.

The Redskins will be idle now until after Christmas when they will host the Atoka Wampus Cats on Jan. 7, Tuesday night. This will give them a long break to bring this team together. Atoka will be the warm up before the New Years Classic that begins on Jan. 9 and continuing thru the Jan. 11.

Todays final stats: Rose had 9, Brister and Kaden Johnson had 7 each, Rumer had 3, Hayes and Matchen had 2 each.
