Kingston continued its mastery of District 3A-8 competition early last week before hitting a rough patch which included just one win in four outings against Class 5A competition in the Norman Invitational.
In the opening games of the week, Coach Aaron Minor’s unit blanked Antlers (6-0) and Valliant (11-0). They sandwiched a 7-0 victory over Noble amidst losses to Duncan (8-4), Pryor (11-1) and Guthrie (3-2).
The Lady Redskins will face another rugged slate in the Silo Tournament this weekend as well as visiting Silo in another league showdown on Tuesday.
Pitching led the charge for Kingston in the Antlers’ decision with Gracie Bridgman striking out 12 and allowing only one hit in five stellar innings of work. Kanna Stroud chipped in two frames of scoreless relief and was also the offensive stalwart with a pair of hits and four runs batted in.
Kate Ratzlaff had a massive performance at the plate against Valliant that included five hits and three runsscored.MadiHammond, Khloe Hall and Keeton Hatley tossed in two hits apiece in the 13-hit offensive charge. Stroud earned the pitching verdict, scattering four hits through five stanzas of work.
Kingston had the early advantage with a 3-0 lead versus Duncan following singlesbyDextryBowerman, Hatley and Emma Bridgeman along with a Hall double before watching the Lady Demons rally.
The Noble contest was a bright spot spurred by another Bridgmanpitchinggem in which she scattered four hits in the complete game shutout. Stroud provided two hits and drove in four with Ratzlaff, Bowerman and Bridgeman also adding a pair of hits apiece in the Lady Redskin triumph.
A late comeback fell just short against Guthrie as Kingston pushed across one in the final frame before the rally ended. Hatley doubled and Ratzlaff pitched in a RBI single that narrowed the gap. Hatley finished with three hits and Ratzlaff added two.
