Bouncing back from a pair of early losses last week, the Madill Lady Wildcats softball team split four games in the Pauls Valley Tournament.
TheLadyWildcatstoppled Marietta (4-1) and Ardmore (7-0) but dropped verdicts to powerfulKingfisher(6-0)and Marlow (6-3).
Madill will be back on the road this weekend at the Davis Festival before a home district matchup with defending state champ Lone Grove on Monday.
In the opening victory over Marietta, the Lady Wildcats jumped out of the gate with four runs in the first two stanzas and then rode stellar pitching from Aubrey Orr to the win. The freshman standout twirled a complete game two-hitter, yielding just one unearned run with nine strikeouts and two walks.
Orr also set the tone offensively with a first inning leadoff home run over the leftfield fence.
Madill tacked on three for good measure during a big second stanza that was the result of a two-out outburst.
Kinsley Troxtell was hit by a pitch to begin the frame but was still on base following two outs. Leighton Clement singled to keep things going and set the table for a two-run double from Orr, who took care of the final run herself by stealing home. Chloe Miller finished with the only other Madill hit in the contest.
Facing Ardmore, Orr once again got the call in the pitching circle and delivered a five-inning no hitter that included eight strikeouts.
The Lady Wildcats scored at least once in each of the first four stanzas and never looked back. Orr got things rolling in a two-run first by reachingonasingleandcame around to score after a stolen base, error and sacrifice bunt. Tillie Chapa tripled to force in another run.
Emersyn Thomas tripled an inning later, which scored Layne Albright from first base and scored herself on a Clement grounder. The speed of Orr was on display later in the stanza as reached on an Ardmore error and came around to score via another Lady Tiger miscue. Karma Williams notched a single early in the third and eventually came across on an Ardmore error.
Madill wrapped up the scoring in the fourth when Orr tripled and rode home on a Lana Wigington sacrifice fly.
Things were a lot more difficult against Kingfisher as the Lady Wildcats finished with no hits and were also hindered by six defensive errors.
In the Marlow outing, Madill fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning and was playing catch up the rest of the contest.
The Lady Wildcats plated one run in its half of the opening frame after Orr singled and came around to score on a Miller hit. They notched another solo tally in the third via nearly the same route with Orr tripling and trotting home on a Miller single.
They finished off the scoring in the fourth stanza as Thomas walked and was driven in on a double by Clement.
