Kingston basketball posts decisive sweeps

It was an impressive week for Kingston basketball teams a week ago as they swept contests with Idabel and Madill.

The Lady Redskins rode a big third quarter to a 5842 road victory at Idabel and then avenged an earlier defeat in a 68-11 triumph against Madill.

Kingston boys meanwhile won a 46-44 nailbiter at Idabel before thumping Madill, 67-30.

They’ll be back in tournament action this weekend at Hennessey.

Girls

In the Idabel victory, Kingston gradually began pulling away early with a 12-8scoringedgethroughone period and 27-19 at intermission. A 23-8 third quarter outburst broke things wide open however, fueled by eight points from Lady Redskin scoring catalyst Cassidy Walker.

Walker finished the contest with a game-high 15 points while eight others had key contributions. Destry Davis pumped in eight, Dextry Bowerman notched seven, Avery Ludrick had six, Taylie Wiebener and Kenzie Goree posted five apiece, Dilynn Weeks tossed in three as Chloe Lilley and Keeton Hatley each finished with two points.

Kingstonledfromthestart in the Madill contest as the Lady Redskins raced to a 22-5 lead after one quarter and extended that margin to a commanding 44-7 at the half.Theyaddedanother16-4 scoring flurry in the third stanza and tossed a shutout in the fourth.

Hatley erupted for a season- high 16 points to fuel the Kingston scoring effort. Walker and Ludrick also tallied double figures with 10 each. Bowerman checked in with seven, Wiebener had six as Weeks, Goree, Davis and Lilley all contributed four points. Emma Bridgeman also chipped in a point.

Boys

A tight one throughout went the way of the visiting Redskins at Idabel as Kingston hit just enough free throws (4 of 8) to hold off the Warrior charge.

Coach Taggert Lockhart’s crew was up 14-10 through one period sparked by a pair of Brock Rumer three pointers and led 22-18 at intermission with Jack Hinsley notching six of the eight Kingston points in the frame.

The Redskins added a point to the margin at 36-31 following three quarters and held on from there.

Hinsley tossed in 15 and Rumer had 13 in pacing the Kingston scoring. Hayden Seeney chipped in eight, Blane Henry scored six and Parks Ratzlaff finished with four.

Kingston won each period in decisive fashion in the Madill victory as the hosts outscored the Wildcats 17-8 in the first frame, 18-6 in the second and 21-9 in the third while continuing to add to the bulge.

Three Redskins contributed double digits led by Hinsley’s 16 points. Rumer and Seeney pitched in 11 apiece. They also picked up nine from Lander Burkhalter, seven by Henry, five for Hudson Everhart as well as four apiece each by Ratzlaff and Bowen McAdams.
