Madillboysclaimedfourth and the girls were fifth in the Lake Country Conference Cross Country Meet last weekend hosted for the 10th straight year at Madill City Park.
In junior high competition theWildcatsendedupsecond with the Lady Wildcats in third.
Both Madill high school units will be in Class 4A regional action on Saturday in Waurika, attempting to punch their tickets to state.
Freshman Jayden Barbosa was the catalyst for the Wildcats on the 5,000-meter course with a time of 17 minutes, 38.62 seconds to place 12th individually with senior Ryder Douglas right on his heels with a 13th place mark of 17:40.04.
Alex Orta checked in 18th with a time of 17:53.23, Jose Campos ended up 27th in 18:25.51, Blane Hawthorne was 33rd at 18:52.78, Gael Gallegos posted a 39th place mark of 19:25.48, Aroddy Camacho placed 43rd in 19:36.17, Yadel Sanchez was 46th with a 19:52.48 and Canyon Phillips took 47th at 19:53.51.
Other Wildcats finishers included Dayton Gimenez, 62nd (21:11.74); Vincent Acquaviva, 63rd (21:15.51); Saul Martinez, 64th (21:18.36); Ronny Rivera, 68th (22:05.48); Azaeel Rivera, 72nd (22:56.07); Juan Narvaez, 74th (23:13.19); Juan Padronrodriguez, 76th (23:40.42); and Xavier Quintanilla, 85th (27:04.82).
For the Lady Wildcats, senior general Yadira Barbosa notched the top mark of 12 minutes, 13.56 seconds over the 3,200-meter course to capture fourth individually.
CayleeMartineznotcheda 33rd place effort of 14:34.63, Katelyn Acquviva was 34th in 14:37.13, Jeylah Cabrales added a 35th place mark of 14:38.54 and Lexington Willis checked in 42nd at 15:08.24.
Madill’s other girls placers were Jayleen Vasquez, 44th (15:20.04); Isabell Stuckey, 45th (15:33.56); Hadon Stuckey, 46th (16:04.57); Samantha Ortiz, 47th (16:07.92); and Aranza Salinas, 55th (18:49.19).
The junior high boys also ran the 3,200-meter course and were topped by Kamden Martin’s fourth place time of 11:46.05.
Akzel Fernandez chipped in a seventh at 12:20.48, Lorenzo Vasquez was 11th in 12:28.51, Neymar Camacho took 16th with a mark of 12:54.33, Israel Hernandez added a 23rd in 13:09.08, Gunner Willis took 26th in 13:26.11 and Daeton Brown ended 28th at 13:42.40.

Spurring the effort of the Lady Wildcat junior high was Catalina Valadez with a third-place showing of 9:38.80 on the 2,400-meter route.
Ellie Cabrales contributed eighth in 10:07.01, Alyna Stuckey took 19th at 10:32.11, Sammy Brown was 20th with a mark of 10:36.37, Reigan McMichael checked in 26th at 10:45.45, Hadley Schneider finished 27th in 10:45.87 and Yuliana Zuniga took 29th with an 11:08.33.
