Jerry Carl Anderson, 86, of Lake Kiowa, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025. Born in Wynnewood, Okla., Jerry was a lifelong educator, craftsman, and devoted family man.
He began his teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Colorado and went on to teach high school mathematics in California for 39 years, retiring in 2000. He was known for his continuous exploration of teaching methods and deep commitment to his students.
After retirement, Jerry and his wife, Latrica, built their dream home in Colorado, where he enjoyed working on projects, building furniture and spending time on his tractor, “Johnny.” A passionate boater, Jerry taught over 100 people to water ski and shared countless adventures on the water with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Latrica; their children, Carl (Stephanie) and Anita (John); grandchildren, A.J., Tim, Chris, and Sara; and a legacy of kindness, creativity, and curiosity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, Texas on Friday, July 11 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a lunch.
