Redskins fall to Adair in Class 3A regional final

The Kingston Redskins notched a pair of run rule shutoutsofHeavenerbuthad no answer for host Adair as the baseball season came to a close in the Class 3A Regional Tournament.

Coach Darron Henson’ squad blasted Heavener, 11-0, in its opener before dropping a 1-0 pitcher’s duel in game two. The Redskins stayed alive by throttling Heavener by a 10-0 count but couldn’t get anything going offensively in an 8-0 loss to Adair again in the title tilt to end the year with an 1812 record.

Kingston got off to a fast start in game one, plating eight runs in the opening inning and never looked back as they made the most of six hits, cashing in four walks and three Heavener errors.

Brock Rumer, Blane Henry andHaydenSeeneyallhad singles in the early uprising. Reid Patterson’s RBI single addedanotherrunthesecond with Brady Greene tacking on the final tally with a triple in the third stanza.

Hill worked four innings on the mound, scattering three hits with one strikeout for the victory.

Seeney got the pitching start and tossed a complete game six-hitter, striking out two and walking none but was the tough luck losing hurler yielding only the one run following a double in the first inning.

Rumer’s third inning one-out single was the lone Kingston hit in the contest.

TheRedskinsbattledback for a second win over Heavener, pushing across five runs in the first inning and another five in the third. Patterson’s double was the key blow in the first with Rumer belting a two-run homer to fuel the third frame.

Greene twirled three nohit innings, striking out five with Rumer chipping in two frames of one-hit relief that included fanning four. Ewan Weaver also tossed in a double at the plate.

The finale saw Adair scored three runs in the third and fourth stanzas along with two in the fifth while Kingston only managed two hits in the contest. Lander Burkhalter contributed a single in the second frame and Rumer had the final one with a seventh inning single.
