It was a light week for the Kingston basketball teams last week with Tuesday wins over Byng the only games as contests with Marietta were cancelled at the end of the week due to the flu.
The 12th ranked Lady Redskins upped their record to 10-6 by pulling away for a 48-23 victory in the opener while the 20th rated Redskins were also efficient in the second half to forge a 51-32 to improve their season mark to 11-5.
A trip to Holdenville is next on the schedule Friday before Kingston visits Dickson on Tuesday.
Girls
It was tight for one half as Kingston held a 13-10 edge through one period and 22-15 at intermission but could never shake the Lady Pirates.
The second half was a different story however as the Lady Redskins reeled off a 14-5 third quarter flurry sparked by Cassidy Walker and then outscored Byng by a whopping 12-3 margin in the fourth.
Jaci Herndon was consistent throughout on the way to a game-high 17 points with Walker also tabbing double figures with 14.
Joley Heydon tossed in seven, Taylie Wiebener sank a pair of three pointers to end with six points, Riley Markovich scored three with Avery Ludrick adding one.
Boys
Kingston took the early advantage and gradually pulled away throughout the contest with a well-balanced offensive attack.
The Redskins were up 11-8 through one period, 25-18 at intermission and 38-27 following the third stanza. The duo of Sam Walker and Brock Rumer keyed the surge over the middle two frames as they combined for 21 points during those quarters.
Walker finished the game as the team’s top scorer with 13 while Rumer was just behind scoring 11. Hudson Everhart contributed eight, Hayden Seeney had six, Lander Burkhalter notched five, Ty Jones scored four as Blane Henry and Kase McAdams rounded out the total with two points apiece.
