The Oklahoma House of Representatives recently added a government efficiency survey to its transparency portal on the House website, okhouse. gov. The effort is intended to root out duplication of services, waste and inefficiencies in state government, much like the newlycreated federal Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Our new speaker-elect has promised to work hand-in-hand withPresident-ElectDonaldTrump and the state’s federal congressional delegation on broader efforts to make government more efficient with DOGE.
Our survey will help ensure our state government is working as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible by using input from the public. Our House appropriations chair pointed out that the more efficient we can become, the more we can invest in critical government services and pursue lowering the overall tax burden for all Oklahomans.
On the new survey, constituents will be able to file government waste complaints by entering some demographic information, the issue area their example encompasses, and details of waste or inefficiencies. The quicker we start getting the information, the better we’ll be able to address the matters with the state agencies that will come beforeour Appropriations&Budget subcommittees leading up to the legislative session.
The portal is live today, and Oklahomans can immediately start entering examples of waste they have already encountered or will see in the future. While lawmakers are constantly scouring agency budgets for areas of inefficiency or waste, having the broader public’s input into the process will greatly assist our efforts.
This survey joins our Budget HQ portal also on our House website. The budget portal is full of information such as agency budget requests for Fiscal Year 2026 as well as prior year appropriations by category. It’s certainly worth a look.
On a separate note, I just want to remind everyone to stay safe as you’re traveling this holiday season. Take your time and arrive safely at your destination, and enjoy your time with family and friends.
