On Friday November 1, Kingston High School senior, Kenadea Elkins signed her letter of intent for college. She is receiving a full-ride softball scholarship to Rose State College, going from a proud Redskin to an exciting new Raiders player.
She said she is the first person in her family to receive a scholarship for athletic achievements.Sheimpressed the scouts with her amazing capabilities as the Kingston Redskins catcher. They also observed her talents while attending softball camp and playing travel ball.
Elkins said this is an amazing opportunity.
“I am very excited to go to RSC.” Said Elkins.
Elkins said that softball is very dear to her.
I love finding that escape, everything is gone when I’m on the field,” she said. “I love being in my zone.”
Elkins said her college goals are to become a mathematics teacher and coach. She also said she wants to help the underclassmen find their passions.
“The younger girls mean a lot to me. I want to help them find that same escape,” she said. “I want to help them get ready before they move into position as juniors and seniors.”
She said she fell in love with RSC while taking a tour of the campus.
“It felt like home to me, where I’m supposed to go.”
Her family, friends, coaches, teammates, Kingston and all of Marshall County are supportive and proud of Elkins, cheering her all the way to Midwest City for the 2025 fall semester.
Elkins showed gratitude for her school staff and family who have helped her throughout high school. She said she is thankful for her councilor Mrs. Easley, her two coaches Aaron Minor and Emi O’steen, both of her parents, Jared and Jennifer Elkins, her eldest sister, Kenzlea and her baby sister Kayslea. She said she plans to come back home to visit regularly with family and friends.
