Best Halloween display

There is a house in Madill that many residents consider the best Halloween display. Shelly and Brad Hamilton live on the southeast corner of Taliaferro and 5th Avenue, and many people admire the Halloween decorations and the effort that the Hamiltons put into the display.

The historic house on the corner of Taliaferro and 5th Avenue has a long history. Several prominent Madillite families have lived in the house through the years. The Hamiltons are the current residents, and they have made the house even more famous.

Any spectator could look at the house and Halloween display and know that the Hamiltons love Halloween. Every October, the house gets decorated like normal, however, the display is never the same.

From skeletons to beautiful fall decorations, it is a continuous tribute to the Halloween holiday. Shelly said that she began putting up the decorations to follow a tradition that her mother started.

“My mom, the late Pat Ward, loved Halloween,” Shelly said. “So, I carry the torch for her.”

Shelly has been doing the display for the past five years and said she loves the attention that the display receives from the community.

“I love the fact that the school buses come by the house each day and to hear that the display brings smiles to the school children and the bus drivers makes it worth the effort.”
