When legends die

As a society who spends countless hours watching movies and TV shows, we tend to become close to the characters in the shows. We laugh and celebratewhensomethinggood happens to the character and we cry when something bad happens.

Some celebrities touch our lives more than others. Some are so iconic that they surpass celebrity status and are considered legends.

September 2024 closed out with a lot of celebrity deaths and even some legends. These celebrities were people who shaped our world, inspired our dreams and entertained our hearts.

0f the many greats, there will be for many that stand out as heroes of our childhood like James Earl Jones who passed away on September 9. He was an American Tony, Emmy, Grammy and Golden Globe winning actor. Many know his iconic voice as the sound of Darth Vader from Star Wars and Mufasa from The Lion King. The 93-year-old actor was also in Field of Dreams, Coming to America and The Sandlot.

Another legendary actress was Maggie Smith who died on September 27 at the age of 89. She was a British Tony, Emmy, Oscar and BAFTA Award-winning stage and screen actress. She was known for movies like A Room with a View, Downton Abbey, Harry PotterfilmsandgrannyWendy from Hook.

Kris Kristofferson, an 83-year-old country singersongwriter and actor, passed away on September 28. He penned songs like “Me and Bobby McGee” and “Help me make it through the night”. He starred in the Blade trilogy and A Star is Born.

PeteRose,aniconicbaseball infielder, passed away on September 30 at the age of 83. He played for the Cincinnati Red and the Philadelphia Phillies and was also a manager. He was banned for gambling.
