Monday, September 9, the Kingston Lady Redskins hosted the Marietta Lady Indians with a 12-0 victory, securing the team’s opportunity to host a regional game. This is the first home regional since 2018, thanks to nine runs scored in the second inning.
The Kingston bats were hot as freshmen Kate Ratzlaff, Kenley Hallum and Audrey Hughes, seniors Ayli Minor and Kenadea Elkins and sophomores Ava Bain, Khloe Hall and Bailey Reagan each worked together to amass runs with Elkins and Ratzlaff being the driving force. Head Coach Aaron Minor expressed his excitement about the overall season.
“They knew going into the game that they had to win to secure second in the district,” Minor said. “I’m proud of them for not allowing that to put pressure on them. They went out and executed without error.”
“It was nice to see them respond the way they did after a four-game skid,” he continued. “I am proud of their hard work this season, and they know I expect them to move on to Super Regional.”
The current team is the first team in almost 10 years to secure an opportunity to host a regional game.
