EthanWilkerson,aMadill senior athlete made history during the Madill Winter Classic Tournament. He scored 82 points during the three-game tournament. Wilkerson said he was laser focused on the goal since last year.
“I remember seeing it last year on the little pamphlets they give out,” Wilkerson said. “I wanted to get it last year, but I didn’t, so this year it was kind [of] a goal in the back of my mind to get. It was pretty exciting.”
Wilkerson surpassed the long-standing record from 2004 when a Boswell student scored 79 points.
He said it was one of the many goals he set out to accomplish.
“It was something I wanted to do and to accomplish it was pretty cool.”
This senior is used to accomplishing big things on and off the court. Wilkerson is set to graduate in 2024 with 27 college credits, already. Wilkerson’s coach and father said he is proud of his son.
“He is very intelligent,” the coach said. “He is into learning about government and history.”
Wilkerson said that he really enjoys both academic and sports achievements, but he enjoys his basketball achievements more. He said he enjoys watching movies in his spare time.
“It’s a hobby of mine. I just really like watching movies,” Wilkerson said. “My favorite movie is the Peanut Butter Falcon.”
Wilkerson noted that he plans to go to college when he graduates and hopes to play basketball, but he is not sure at this moment just where he will go. He said he is also very thankful for the support of his teammates.
