TFD: Continuing Training

Body

Our firefighters will be continuing structural firefighting training this week in Kingston. We still have a need for more volunteers. All adults, male or female, who are members of the Texoma Fire District, interested in joining the Texoma Volunteer Fire Department, contact Chief Todd Cissell at (580) 565-4491. You can also pickup an application from the mailbox at the station, fill it out and return to the station. Chief Cissell will contact you. Everyone is welcome, so consider joining! The fire department truly needs your support. Leaves are falling; I know because I need to mulch our front lawn. So, continue to be on the lookout for copperheads in the leaves. Copperheads will hibernate when temperatures remain below 60 degrees.

If you are bitten:

1. Do clean the wound, if possible, and look for fang marks.

2. Do seek medical attention immediately.

3. Don’t try to suck the venom out of the bite.

4. Don’t put ice on the wound or use a tourniquet.

Before burning check for wind, DO NOT BURN if windy, and contact the Sheriff’s office at (580) 795-2221 and let them know you will be doing a control burn.

On October 19 at 1:00 p.m., the Ladies Auxiliary will meet the TFD Training Center. Mary Green and Sandy Bumgarner are this month’s hostesses. If you would like something to drink bring your own. Anyone in the Texoma Fire District may attend this meeting. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Don’t forget to go by Specktacular Foods on McDuffee and order a pizza or two. The food is not only good, but Specktacular Foods is donating $1 for every pizza sold in October to our fire department. 

Thank you and everyone stay safe! 
