Senior Spotlight

As the second semester of the school year reaches its halfway point, MHS takes a moment to celebrate the achievements and aspirations of one of Madill High School's outstanding seniors, Benjamin Perkins. With a deep commitment to his studies and extracurricular activities, Perkins has made the most of his twelve years at Madill, leaving a lasting legacy.

He is the son of Margaret and Chris Miller, and Joey and Lauren Perkins. Throughout his time at Madill, he has actively participated in a variety of clubs and organizations, including Speech, Band, Jazz Band, FFA,theFishingClub,Gifted and Talented program, and the Academic Team.

Looking ahead, Perkins said he plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting, with a minor in Education.

He said that among his fondest memories at Madill, is the thrill of medaling in all three of his events at the state speech contest. He said healsocherishesthemoment his band received a superior rating for their marching show during his freshman year, a significant achievement that highlighted his musical journey.

Perkins expressed heartfelt gratitude to his directors, acknowledging their support and wisdom throughout his high school career.

“Thank you so much for always being there and giving me laughs or wisdom when I needed it the most,” he shared.

He extended similar appreciation to his parents for their unwavering encouragement.

“Thank you for always being there, pushing me to become the best version of myself, and always believing in my goals and aspirations.”

Reflecting on the influences that have shaped him, Perkins cited his speech coach, Mrs. Hartin, as a vital source of inspiration.

“She always pushed me to go further and try harder than I thought I could. She always has my back, and I know she always will.”

In the realm of music, he said Miss F has played a crucial roleinhisdevelopmentas a leader, providing guidance andcountlessjoyfulmoments that he will cherish forever.
