The Madill Rose Garden Club met on Thursday, August 5, at 10:00 a.m. at the Madill First Methodist Church Fellowship Hall with seven members in attendance. Susan Patton, Club President, opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the New Conservation Pledge recited in unison.
Becky Ninemire, Secretary, announced no previous minutes to be presented. Kaye Jay, Treasurer gave a Treasurer’s Report. Mary Jane Lowery stated her appreciation to members for attending the meeting.
Linda Kaye Green, incoming President, presented Susan Patton, the outgoing President with a Lifetime National Garden Club Pin. Thank you Susan for serving as President During this time of COVID 19.
Mary Lois Jones, longtime member of the club, will celebrate her 98th birthday on Thursday, August 12. Members are encouraged to send a card or drive by and honk their horn on her special day.
Members discussed the coming year. All Rose Garden Club meetings will be held at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Church Fellowship Hall. A discussion was held on our printed yearbook that each member receives at the first of the club year. Members suggested to Linda Kaye that she should follow the national yearbook standards as set forth by the National Garden Clubs Organization.
All pages that were unnecessary could be eliminated to cut paper and ink expenses. The following assisgnments were given to members such as hostess, devotions, programs, seasonal library decoration of the month, and Yard of the Month.
Linda Kaye announced that Gingerlei Waddell, Head Landscaping and Grounds Supervisor at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, will be the guest speaker at the November 11 meeting at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Linda Kaye, hostess, served ham salad sandwiches, cookies, candy, and water to Doris Farris, Mary Jane Lowery, Becky Ninemire, Judy Parkey, and Susan Patton.
The Rose Garden will meet September 2 at 10:00 a.m.. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
