Madill Deputy Chief Officer Steven Ray was the iterim police chief for Madill after former Police Chief Donald Yow took his place as Marshall County Sheriff on January 1, 2021.

On February 23, 2021, Ray was named as the official Madill Police Chief.

Madill City Manager James Fullinghim posted his excitement on the City of Madill-Madill Public Works Facebook page.

“I am proud to introduce you to our new Madill Chief of Police, Chief Steven Ray,” Fullingim posted. “Steven began his career with the police department February 10, 2003 at the young age of 21. Steven is one of the best officers that I’ve had the pleasure to work with, and I know he’ll continue his exceptional work as our Chief. In times like these we need great leaders, and I feel Steven holds the leadership qualities to take this department where we need it to go. Congratulations Chief Steven Ray.”

Many residents took to the comment section to voice their congratulations. Just like when he was named Deputy Chief, some of the posters noted how he was the obvious choice.

Robert Huffposted, “Congratulations it is well deserved.”
